Contributed by James Banta Col. Fulgencio Batista, Cuban army chief, became an honorary citizen of St. Augustine on Nov. 21, 1938. Mayor Walter B. Fraser presented Batista with an inscribed scroll during the ceremony which took place during a brief stop of the Florida East Coast Railway train he was on.
