What We Tax, A Front Line in the War Between Left and Right

Soft Left Politics

The economic case for land value taxation

In the war between left and right, one of the main ideological fronts is always taxation. In the trenches on the left, relatively high taxes with big government for a fair, equitable society which nurtures its most vulnerable; across the bleak strip of ravaged mud, low taxes, small government and rewarding hard work and enterprise to maximise economic efficiency. That’s the ideology but closer scrutiny of actual policy suggests that:

–          The right—far from being single-mindedly committed to economic efficiency—is as beholden today to the same narrow, vested interests at the expense of good governance as it ever was in the days of Rotten Boroughs and the Corn Laws, first and foremost among these vested interests landowners and other monopolistic rentiers who collect unearned income.

–          The fact that the left has never felt strong enough in power to launch a root and…

All The Stuff That Comes From Oil

The Arts Mechanical

On an Infogram.

I’ve posted about how Drake drilled the first well and saved the whales.

This picture is the result of John D Rockefeller’s efforts to make lighting as cheap as possible by using as much of the various fractions of oild as a product as possible.  Much of what we have as chemistry is the result.

The Calm Before the Light: Prelude to Surprise

Wide Awake But Dreaming

Well, how was your evening?  Better than Kerry’s, I hope!  Actually, nothing’s changed for him since I wrote those last few words about him yesterday, the ones that seems to have left him freaking out just a bit.  And why wouldn’t they?  As I told my manicurist yesterday while I was discussing this latest plot twist while she applied Gelish “Manga-Round With Me” to my nails–

1.  Relationship

Fishing with family and friends cultivate bonding. It strengthens your relationship when you have enjoyable shared activities with people who mattered.  Well, unless of course you start fishing into their private life behind their back, that’s a different story. Proves that you don’t really need to go outdoors to go fishing. Just go online, log in to your facebook and you can tweet who’s got the largest fish in the group.

2. Health Reasons

It’s always better to get your own fish…fresh, as wild fish are known to be low in fat…

Islamic Terrorism Is It Just Murderers For Profit: Or Murderers For Allah?

Truth Troubles

In the title I gave you only two options to think about but I would now like to introduce you to a third line of thought. What if it is simply both number one and number two above? What if the teachings of Allah not just gives his followers permission to butcher all non-believers and or believers whom they feel do not ‘believe’ correctly enough or like Sunni killing Shiite and vise versa, but what if Allah commanded it of his ‘true followers’? What if Allah through his prophet Mohammad teaches and commands these type of actions that we see and hear of daily in our wired world? Yesterday a young woman blew her self up killing at least 58 and permanently scaring many more. What is worse is that this blast happened in a “safe haven” area of Nigeria that had been set up to help protect the people…
