“Autumn slips in like a fairy queen, spreads her cloak and everything changes.”
Bernadette Laganella
Hustle and Bustle have returned again
and have banished the ice cream man.
They have replaced his merry ring
with the school bell’s ding.
Hustle and Bustle shake the acorns free
and the squirrels become busy bees.
Those ladies mop up summer’s wet air
returning the sun’s bright glare.
They hang a lantern of orange in the sky
and invite the night creatures to fly.
Hustle and her sister Bustle prepare the way
for the autumn fairy princess to come and play.
